Culture Capital is a blog about culture’s value creation capacity.

Maria-Louiza Laopodi has launched this blog in 2014 when she was investigating the way traditional cultural production and the established economy combine, how they cooperate and affect one another. She was triggered by the 2008 economic crisis when she saw cultural funding collapse altogether and major arts and cultural organizations shrink and stop doing business in South East Europe.

Formerly it was named Cultural Entrepreneurship News and it was mapping information sources on Cultural Entrepreneurship from 2014 until 2020.

By 2020 the culture sector had grown and moved on when a new crisis hit the floor. Covid-19 pandemic shook again cultural funding and organizations. But the discussion was no longer on entrepreneurial models for sustainability but on the requirements for value creation in culture.

After she launched this blog she made her first steps in entrepreneurship and the blog helped her first like a research map into the world of entrepreneurship and later as a base for promotion of the Cultural Entrepreneurship Talks which she organized in Greece and Croatia. Since then, more than 600 people from around the world have subscribed and follow the blog.
